Revlon Lip Liner Pencil in Blackberry Review, Swatch
Hi Everyone,
A few weeks back, I reviewed Revlon lip liner pencil in Plumwine shade (check its review here). It has smooth and creamy texture. The shade is perfect to wear individually or under a lipstick/lip-gloss, that too in pretty reasonable price. I got so drawn to this lip liner that this weekend I shopped for Blackberry shade of the same range.
I am not a frequent user of lip liners as they need couple of minutes in cautiously outlining lips. During my weekday’s routine I am already swamped with so many other things that I could not spare even a single extra minute for doing makeup-shakeup. But after I started applying (of course not that frequently) the plumwine one, the lip-liner application seem hassle free. It glides on to lips so smoothly and perfectly that the job gets over in no time, does not even take 60 seconds. :dancydancy:
My take on ‘Revlon Lip Liner Pencil in Blackberry’
Revlon lip liner Blackberry shade mingles well with dark shades of red such as burgundy, maroon, carmine, etc. I have a couple of red tone lipsticks lying around so I thought this lip liner would be the best boundary definer for them. Texture wise, blackberry follows the plumwine traits. I mean it has a soft and creamy texture that makes the pencil effortlessly work while filling lips. Other than that it confines the lipstick/lip-gloss within in the boundary without feathering. Overall, the texture has most of the things I would look for in a lip liner.
As I have said earlier, Blackberry shade is kind of maroonish or dark red shade. It has high pigmentation, which looks somewhat uneven if I wear it alone. Every time I mustered all the courage to wear it alone, just as I do with plumwine shade, I had to top up a lipstick eventually. Wearing this lip-liner alone gives an irregular impression of the application.
Being a dark shade, even if I wear it underneath a lipstick, I find it difficult to carry with casual wear. A couple of times when I wore it to office, I was embarrassed from the attention I got (deadly stares  ). It felt as if it was making me stand out (in an embarrassed way) from rest of the crowd. So I went to the restroom and wiped it off completely, feeling relieved after becoming a part of the crowd again  .
But this shade is a perfect wear for parties or other occasions where you need to go all decked up. For those occasions it makes you feel a part of the crowd, yet stand out (in a positive manner :good: ).
What I like about ‘Revlon Lip Liner Pencil in Blackberry’
– Sharp lip outlining.
– No feathering or bleeding.
– Does not settle into fine lines.
– Does not waste much product while sharpening.
– Perfect for medium to fair skin tones.
– Reasonable price.
– Mingles well with dark red shades as Maroon, Auburn, Burgundy, and Rosewood etc.
What I do not like about ‘Revlon Lip Liner Pencil in Blackberry’
– Cannot be worn alone as the shade does not come up evenly.
Price of ‘Revlon Lip Liner Pencil in Blackberry’: INR 265 for 1.15gm.
Shelf life of ‘Revlon Lip Liner Pencil in Blackberry’: 18 months from date of manufacturing.
BABE Rating: 4/5
Final Word: Revlon Lip Liner Pencil in Blackberry is perfect for parties and other husy-dushy occasions. It cannot be worn alone because of the uneven pigmentation look but it blends perfectly underneath a lipstick. Overall, Blackberry is a reasonable lip-liner shade that will go with almost every dark red lipstick that you own.
