Since innovation and creativity are main focus of modern era, home interiors are not just left limited to wall paintings. Interiors are reflection of inhabitants – the colors, the motifs, the textures, the fabrics, the accessories everything that is there in a house depicts the personality and aura of the occupants. A calm person would like to experiment with soothing colors such as lavender and off white; a gallant individual would like to focus on bold color blocking interior designs. And, if there are fresh flowers in the house, chances are ladies in the house love serenity and natural beauty. So, what I am trying to say is that house is the echo of one’s personality. The way it is designed and taken care of speaks volumes about our own traits.
Just like personalities, houses also speak of profession and preferences. For example, an artist’s house showcases her image of thoughts in simple things like the design and color of cushions, wall-hangings, shape of flower vases, etc. Scattered stuff speaks either of busy schedules or the preference of go-with-the flow attitude. These are just few aspects of home interiors; there are gazillions of minute details that need to be considered while designing each corner. I know this sounds convoluted and time demanding, but that’s where Asian Paints’ signature stores, called ‘Colour Stores’ come in to help us design our homes.
Asian Paints is a well-known name in paint industry. Since its foundation in 1942, it has come a long way to not just remain as leader in wall painting but also brought new concepts such as Colour Idea Stores, Ezycolour services like Home Solutions & Colour Consultancy and Colour Next trend forecasting. If you live in Delhi, Mumbai or Kolkata you can visit Asian Paints’ colour store to get ideas on interior designing. In addition to consultancy, they do events on designing that in turn can help in creating your dream homes. Last week, on the occasion of ‘World Interiors Day’ I got an opportunity to be a part of one such event at Asian Paints’ Cannaught Place (New Delhi) Colour Store. The aim of this event was to educate consumers and interior décor enthusiasts on colors and designs, and how it can help them in redoing their spaces.
The speaker was none other than famous Film Production Designer ‘Shruti Gupte’. She is the face behind heart-warming interior spaces of films such as ‘Aisha’, ‘Taare Zamin Par’, ‘Khoobsurat’, ‘Lunch Box’ and others. According to her, movies draw inspiration from real people and so do the movie sets. That’s why Shruti is well-versed with style and feelings of the modern-day consumers, and this was echoed in her description and reasoning of the framework she used in these famous movies.Shruti also said that we are the heroes and heroines of our real lives, and should not feat experimenting with colours and textures. Our personal and professional environments are an extension of our personality and should inspire our daily lives, help create memories or convey our aspirations. If movies can take inspiration from our real lives why cannot it be vice-versa? It’s a simple decision to step out of our comfort zone and experiment. Especially when Asian Paints Color Store allows us to realize our dreams before we choose to make it permanent.
Until I attended this event, I used to wonder what the Colour Sore in Cannaught Place, Delhi encompasses as it does not look like an ordinary paint store. Now that I have been there, I know it is a beautiful amalgamation of colours and textures. During the event I did an activity that helped me and the consultancy team in knowing my taste and thought process. Sometimes we cannot explicitly express our preferences and likings, and in those scenarios these kinds of exercises help the experts in doing the designs per our flavor. This creative place is there to help us build our dream home- be it a movie inspired vision or a true replica of our own taste and personality.
If you are planning to redo your interiors or decorate from scratch do visit Asian Paint’s colour stores as the experts over there can assist you in designing a heart-warming space in-line to modern-day’s needs.
