Hope you are enjoying the sunny summers. This is my first time experiencing Canadian summers, and let me tell you I love this pleasant weather. In comparison to Indian summers, the maximum temperature that I have gone through here is nothing. On the contrary, I find it perfect to step out of the house to explore Canada’s natural beauty. I arrived here in March, which was the end of winter season. Those were the only few weeks that restricted my outings but now I am always on the go.
Talking about travel, dressing up is one of the exciting things for me. As much as I love climbing up the mountains, soaking under the sun, lazying around the beaches, I love styling trendy clothes and doing makeup. And that’s why when I got this collaboration opportunity with iHerb I did not give it a second thought. iHerb carries over 7,000 bath and beauty products that it ships to over 160 countries. Since makeup is what I usually look for, I was happy to spot some of my favourite brands like, E.L.F Cosmetics and Real Techniques. From skincare perspective as well, they have wide variety of products from different brands, including Korean skincare such as Innisfree and The Face Shop.
The website is user-friendly and gives an option to save the cart for later use. I find this feature very unique and helpful since many a times I am asked to share the products used in my posts so I can just share my cart going forth.
I got my parcel within 7 days of ordering, and the products were securely packed to avoid breakage. When I opened the package I was glad to see the freshness of the products. They looked even fresher (in terms of packaging and expiry) than what I normally see at a drugstore or local market. Believe me, I do not always have good experiences with online websites but iHerb turned out to be different. Plus, if the order is above a set limit the shipping and taxes are also scrapped off, absolutely amazing! I actually utilized this saved money on ordering some more tempting products.
The other good feature I like about iHerb is that product expiry date is always displayed. While preparing the cart, I could see the expiry of the products so made the selection accordingly. Let’s say, if you do not use a blush often so you would want to go with a longer expiry blush than the one that has a shorter expiry.
iHerb customer service team provides support in 10 languages. Though I did not need any help while placing my order but if you have inquiries about the products or stuck with placing the order you can call them to seek help.
That being said, I used the iHerb products to create two summer looks, one for the day and one for night.
The Day Look
The day look is quite a simple one. To start with the base makeup, I applied a regular moisturizer, which I then topped up with the Nivea post shave balm. If you are wondering why did I use the “post shave balm” then let me tell you a makeup secret -this balm works amazingly well as a primer. It makes the skin super smooth, thus making the blending of foundation or BB cream effortless. As I do not like doing heavy makeup during the day so I settled with a medium coverage BB cream.
For the cheeks, I used the Physician’s formula blush in shade natural. Again, I did not put it in layers because I want it to look all natural. The same blush I used on the eyes but with a bit more layering. No eyeliner was used as I wanted to keep the overall look soft rather I used my regular kajal on the waterline and smudged it using a spongy brush. For the lips, I used the ELF cosmetics matte lip color in shade tea rose and topped it up with Physician’s formula lip gloss. These days I am into lip glosses so I love mixing them with my lipsticks.
I have straight hair and a layered hair so I do not need to do much on that front. I left my hair open, and I think its going well with the look. What do you say?
The Night Look
For me, the night look is always more loud and dramatic. I decided to put an LBD and complement it with red lips. Eye makeup was a bit toned down but the cheeks flushed prominent pink hue.
For the base makeup, I applied a full coverage foundation using the Real techniques miracle complexion sponge. Earlier I used to apply foundation using a brush but from the day I have used this sponge I never use any other tool to apply base makeup. It gives even application and required coverage without dragging the skin. The primer was again Nivea post shave balm as it also keeps the makeup intact for a long time.
As I was going for dark lips so I kept the eyes little bit light. I used the same foundation as a primer on the eyelids. Setting the primer is important as it provides a smooth surface and helps the eyeshadows blend easily. I used the Physician’s formula blush and built the pigmentation. The kajal was used as a liner and also on the waterline with tighlining the eyes.
For lips, I applied the E.L.F. Cosmetics Matte Lip Color in shade Rich Red, and topped it with Physician’s Formula gloss. This mixing gave me a nice red shade- just what I wanted to complement the look. Cheeks were given a pink hue using the Physician’s Formula blush.
The hair was straightened since I wanted the look to be classier and elegant.
This is the first time I used Physician’s Formula products, and I must say the initial experience has been amazing so far. I do not only love the tempting packaging of these beauties but also the quality of the products. To come up with the bright red lip color for the night look, I used E.L.F matte lip color topped with Physician’s formula gloss and I am happy with this gorgeous red. You would soon see the exclusive reviews of the products on the blog.
My backend army included a gentle face wash , light moisturizer, nourish and shine shampoo and a brush cleansing palette from Real Techniques. Not to mention I always clean the brushes before I let them paint the canvas of my face. Since they take time to dry, this job is executed two days before the makeup marathon.
Tadaa… that’s all for today’s post. I hope you enjoyed it and liked the two looks I created using iHerb products. What are you waiting for? If you like the products click here to place the order.
