Detoxifying orange and kiwi smoothie – Health Drink
Hi Everyone,
As summer season is approaching so does the smoothies’ season. If these smoothies are made from fruit fruits they can be 100 times more beneficial; you can enjoy the yumminess of a smoothie and improve your health at the same time. So while you are preparing these smoothies at home you can keep a quality check on the fruits used and avoid added sugar or other preservatives.
Today, I will show you how to make orange and kiwi smoothie, and it’s many benefits.
Ingredients required for making ‘Detoxifying orange and kiwi smoothie’:
Oranges – 2
Low fat yogurt – 1 cup
Kiwi – 1
Mint leaves – 2-3
Amla Murabba – 1-2 slices
Pomegranate (for garnishing)
Procedure for making ‘Detoxifying orange and kiwi smoothie’:
Step1: Peel off orange slices and remove all the seeds. Remove kiwi’s skin and cut it into thin slices. If you want you can also replace fresh oranges with orange juice but I would prefer the former.
Step 2: Put orange pulp and kiwi slices in a mixer and grind it well. Now, add low fat yogurt and mint leaves, and blend the mixture till you do not see any big lumps. Mint leaves are optional, if you don’t like them don’t then add them in this smoothie.
Step 3: If the fruits are too sour then mix one spoon of honey to combat the sourness and to make the smoothie yummier.
Step 4: Add a couple of slices of amla murabba, and few pomegranate seeds for improving the taste and look of this detoxifying smoothie.
Benefits of ‘Detoxifying orange and kiwi smoothie’
Kiwi is a super food; it is packed with vitamins A, C & E and contains more fiber than apples. Kiwis are also rich in potassium, which helps to prevent high blood pressure. This super food also helps flush out toxins from your body, improving overall health and well-being. Kiwi’s black seeds are also very rich in Alfa-Linoleic Acid (an important Omega-3 essential fatty acid) and this makes it a very good detox agent.
Oranges are full of Vitamin C, a single orange can meet your daily requirement of Vitamin C. This vital fruit improves your immunity, protects your body from free radical damages, prevents heart disease and improves digestion.
Low fat yogurt is not only low in calories but it also provides many health benefits. Yogurt is a rich source of calcium, which is important for bones and teeth. As we grow older we need to cut on the calories and increase calcium intake to improve bones’ health.
Enjoy the drink, and have a great day !
