Every girl wants to look beautiful on her wedding day. It is one of the most important days of a girls’ life so undoubtedly looking beautiful takes up the top notch priority. To make this dream come true you have to pay close attention to every small and big thing such as your wedding dress, makeup, hair, accessories, smile, etc. Each of these things contributes in making the dream come true. Of all of the items in this list I will talk about hair today. You must have heard that a good hair day is not only good for the looks but for self-confidence as well. When you know hair looks great you walk with aplomb. Though most of the Indian brides prefer to tie up their hair in a bun or braid but if the hair is not healthy getting a desired style can be impossible too. Moreover, if the hair is healthy you can also attend the after-wedding functions with much more confidence. Now without blabbering further let’s get to the list of things you need to do for head-turning manes.
Healthy Intake: Diet plays the most important role in keeping hair healthy. If your diet is not good no matter how expensive products you use externally you will not get desired results. And if you are keeping up a good diet you will see better-than-desired results. Hair needs protein to grow well so you should consume protein rich food such as sprouts and cheese. Adding fibrous foods like cucumber also helps in keeping the digestive system healthy which in turn directly impacts the nutrients that reach the scalp and hair. Also, the water intake should be more – you should at least drink 10 glasses of water a day and if possible, drink fresh juice that has vitamin C as it will make your locks shiny as well.
Avoid new haircut: Is it just few days to your wedding? If yes, then avoid getting a new hairstyle. You can get your hair trim but going for an entirely new cut is a big NO. Reason being, you are not sure if the new hair cut will suit you or not. It might lead to more harm than good. Also, I have seen some people getting their hair length short before wedding. But I would not recommend doing that because the long the hair-length more the number of ways you can opt to style hair on the wedding day. In gist, when the wedding day is nearby you should go either for hair trimming or for hair cut that you are sure will suit you. Never experiment with your hair when the D-day is near.
Stay away from chemical and heat treatments: Many girls opt for re-bonding before the wedding but in my opinion introducing more chemicals to your hair can have an adverse effect. Like I said earlier experimenting should not be done when you know you do not have time to reverse the treatment. Also, straight hair looks great when kept loose but if you go for a bun managing chemically straightened hair is slightly difficult. The hair stylist will have to use more gel that is again putting more chemicals on hair and can lead to damage. So stay away from chemically laced products as much as you can.
Stick to oldies: Just like with hair styling and cutting, do not try new hair care products just near the wedding day. The products might not be suitable for your scalp and can cause irreparable damage. So it is better to stick to the tried and tested products. You have the entire time post wedding to do experiments. Also, if you have scalp or hair related problems consult a trichologist rather than doing home treatments.
Keep your manes clean: Hygiene is important for hair health so clean you scalp and hair regularly. If possible, invest in organic shampoos and conditioners as they contain less chemicals and good for hair in the long run. If you have oily scalp, you need to be diligent in following a cleaning routine. Clean scalp is good for hair growth and overall hair texture, so be active and take care of your locks.
Regular oiling: Just like nutrient rich soil grows fresh and bloomed flowers, regularly oiling the scalp provides it required nutrients and lead to hair growth. All you need to do is follow regular oiling routine; you can use any oil (almond, mustard, castor, etc) for that purpose. Until I went to college I have been using mustard oil only and my hair was heavy and dense. Now, since I have started experimenting I am using a mixture of castor oil + coconut oil + desi ghee. You can check the elaborate post on this concoction and its benefits here . So in nut shell, use any oil that works for you and use it regularly.
