Eyeliner is an important part of eye makeup.Personally, I believe eye makeup is incomplete without eyeliner. The application style can totally revamp the look. If you apply broader eyeliner then it makes your eyes look wider and deeper. The winged eyeliner gives a wild dramatic look. But all these application styles require evenness and perfection. In today’s post I will share some tips to apply symmetrical liquid eyeliner on the upper eyelid. With practice you can learn these tips and become an expert in applying eyeliner ;-)

Step 1 – Choose the eyeliner

There are several traits of eyeliner such as form, color, texture, brush and intensity. Talking about form we have liquid, cream, pencil and powder. The liquid eyeliner comes in a nail polish type packaging along with a sleek brush dipped in the liquid. The cream eye liner usually comes in a small container packaging with a separate brush. One should choose the eyeliner depending upon the desired look. If you are fond of a smudgy blurred effect then go for pencil or powdered eye liner, these liners are best suited for smoky eye makeups. If you are fond of sharp eye definition then go for the liquid ones. With practice liquid eyeliner can give the finest look as it can be applied just adjacent to the lash line, covering the gap between the lash line and the eyeliner. For today’s post, I will be focusing on liquid eye liner and its application on top lid.

Step 2- Prepare the eyelid base

A normal daily eye makeup involves three steps – eye primer, eyeliner and mascara. Eyeliner is the middle step, after applying eye primer and before applying mascara. Well, eye primer is not the compulsory step but one should apply it as eye primer helps the eyeliner to stick to the eyelid for long hours. If you are planning on wearing an eyeshadow then the steps are – eye primer, eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara, eyeliner will go on top of eyeshadow.

Step 3- Get in a comfortable position

If you are not in a comfortable position then the results can be wavy or uneven. So while applying the eyeliner the most important thing is to sit in a comfortable position where your elbow gets a resting position and your hand does not shake. Now, rest your elbow on the table and lay the eyeliner brush on your top lid, supporting your hand with the apple of cheek and chin. Ensure that your hand is not in the air as that can result in an irregular line. For a closer look and perfect application you can also use a magnifying mirror.

Step 4- Start applying from center of eye lid

Starting from the middle of your lash line slowly start applying eye liner towards the outer edge. Once this is done, again come to the center of the lash line and slowly apply the eye liner toward the inner edge. Now, look for gaps between the lash line and eyeliner. If you find any, fill those gaps carefully with a steady hand. You can darken or thicken the eyeliner depending on the desired look. This completes the application of a brush eyeliner :yahoo:

One of the main benefits of liquid eyeliner is that it does not sumdge at all even after 8 hours. Morever, I find it pretty easy to apply and it blends with the skin well.
