I do not think we girls are ever satisfied with our looks, hair or wardrobes. ‘Yeah dil mane more’ is our much trained mantra rather habit  . Specifically talking about hair, I believe girls who have curly hair prefer to keep them straight. On the contrary, girls who have straight hair yearn to get them curled. You see, we are never happy either ways, and that’s the reason I have never undergone any permanent hair styling. I enjoy the liberty to style my hair in order to satiate the paradigm shifts of my straightening, wavy or curly preferences :dancydancy:
For the record, I have straight hair that is difficult to tame. When I get bored of seeing them straight, I curl them up. Salon or non-salon curling, owing to the smooth hair texture, my curls do not stay long and set loose quite early (approx. after 3 hours). This outcome used to be quite disheartening after paying an exorbitant sum of money to those professional salons. But since the day I have tried hair curling at home I never visit salons for this service.
Today, I will share my ‘hair curling at home’ technique with you.
What all you need to curl you hair:
- Velcro hair rollers.
- Long bobby pins.
- Wide tooth comb.
- Patience. :-)
Step 1: Ensure that your hair is neither too dry nor too wet. After hair wash wrap it with a towel and let it dry for 30 minutes. If you are curling dry hair then slightly wet your hair. This type of hair curling works best on semi damp hair.
Step 2: Take a wide tooth comb to detangle your hair. Split them in different sections of 1 inch width and keep these sections 2 inches apart. Again this mathematics depends on the type of curls you are looking for. If you want dense and heavy curling then keep the sections thin and close.
Step3: Now, take one section and comb it well. This would reduce frizz and give your hair a smooth healthy look. Place the Velcro hair roller at the end of the section and keep rolling your hair on the roller until you reach the desired height. While rolling your hair ensure that you spread them wide on the roller. At the end ensconce them with a bobby bin, so that the hairs do not set loose. If you have silky straight hair that cannot be tamed then you might want to use a gel before rolling them up. Hair gel or hair spray has the tendency to set the curls for longer duration.
Step4: Roll all the sections and keep them like this for 2-3 hours. After 3 hours, carefully remove bobby pins and unroll your hair. If required, run your fingers in hair to make it look smooth but disheveled. Now, you are ready to flaunt your curly hair :D
Benefits of hair curling at home
1) Your hair does not have to go through harsh heating treatment.
2) You end up saving a lot of money, which you can now invest in other makeup or beauty stuff ;-)
3) These soft curls are ideal for romantic dates ;-)
I have curled my hair in this OOTD post. The curls stayed for 2.5 hours, an enough long time for the evening :dancy_s:
I would be happy to know your hair curling technique.
