How To Do Black Smokey Eye Makeup – Makeup Tutorial
Hi Lovely Ladies,
I am back with another makeup tutorial on eyes. I enjoy doing up my eyes more than anything else, and that’s the reason I keep experimenting with different eye looks.
Eye makeup can describe your look – natural or made-up. Perfect application of eye makeup is a skilled art that can boost up your confidence and amaze your friends. The more you practice doing makeup the more perfection you will gain in achieving that flawless look.
Eye makeup varies from soft subtle looks to bold saucy ones. The basics of creating these looks are more or less same, all that differs is the choice of shades and your skilled hand movements.
In today’s tutorial, I will help you in re-creating an easy-to-do smokey eye look. This look can be adorned for cocktail parties and evening outings. However, if you want to wear this look on a sunny day all you have to do is to change the eye shades to softer ones.
(Step 1) Slather powder on under eye area: The very first step while applying an eye shadow is to cover the under eye area either with loose powder or pressed powder. This has to be done as most of the eye shadows fall out, and when you try removing them they leave a messy trail behind. If you slather the under eye area with powder all you need to do is to brush off the fall out at the end. This will provide a perfect neat look.
(Step 2) Prime-up your eyelids – An eye primer is an important base of an eye makeup. Before you start applying eye shadow cover your eyelids with a good eye primer. A primer brings forth the pigmentation of eye shadow shades and keeps the makeup intact for long hours. If you do not have an eye primer then you can also go for foundation. Just take a little foundation, spread it on the eyelid and this will keep the makeup crease-less for you.
(Step 3) Choose the base shade – Choose a base shade that goes closely with the desired look. For black smokey eye look, I am using grey as the base shade. Using a flat brush, cover your eyelids with base shade.
(Step 4) Blend the edges – Using a wide eye shadow blending brush, blend the grey shade on all the edges. While blending, make sure that you just touch the outer edges of eye lid in upward direction towards the brow line.
(Step 5) Choose the highlighter– Now, using the flat brush take the highlighting color. This color dominates the look of your eye makeup so it has to be 2-3 shades darker than the base shade. Softly pat it at the outer corner of your eye giving an impression of outer V. Take a thin blending brush to soften the edges of outer V and to give a natural gradient where both grey and black shades meet.
(Step 6) Apply Eye liner and Mascara – Use your favorite eyeliner on the upper eye lid, keep it as close to the lash line as possible. Now, use a good mascara to curl up the eye lashes. You can use even 2-3 coats of mascara to brighten the lashes.
(Step 7) Outline lower eye lid – Finally, again using the flat brush thinly outline your lower eyelid with black eye shadow. If you are not comfortable using an eye shadow then stick to a good kajal that does not smudge.
(Step 8) Clean up – Using a powder brush, clean up the under eye area in outward direction. This will wipe off eye shadow fall out and give a clean look.
This completes the black smokey eye look :-)
