Hi Everyone,
Personally, I feel that wedding season is the one season that is eagerly awaited by girls. Being a girl, I get invigorated just at the thought of adorning beautiful jewelry, wearing gaudy dresses and decking up my face with makeup. Going by my girl friends’ similar sentiments it seems that most of the ladies fall into this cadre. Why not! We girls are born with the birthright of consistent grooming to look beautiful. In addition to healthy diet, fitness regimen, impeccable makeup skills, the one thing that has the ability to completely revamp the outlook is your attire. That is the reason we have a special category of outfits for every occasion such as formal attires for business meetings, casuals for day-to-day wear and special (gaudy and elegant) outfits for parties.
Talking about parties, there is further segregation depending upon the party type. These days parties are based on specific themes, and guests ought to come dressed up according to that particular theme. Primarily, Indian weddings are getting more and more unique since wedding planners are coming up with different wedding theme ideas. They vary from ‘Mughal Inspired’ to ‘ Circus’, from ‘The Kashmiri’ to ‘The Rajasthani’, from ‘Vintage’ to ‘Western’. Besides there are some color based themes as well such as ‘Red and gold’, ‘Pink and white’, ‘Black, gold and glam’, etc. Choosing a congruous theme depends on the family’s personal choice, season, availability, etc.
Usually respective of the theme, brides and grooms choose their D-day outfits. For example, for the Mughal theme, they prefer to adorn a royal look; whereas for a western theme wedding brides look for elegant contemporary gown.
For Mughal weddings, brides and grooms get dressed like the kings and queens who we have read about in our history books. Well, if you do not remember the historical picturesque then let me remind you of the ’Jodha Akbar’ movie. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan all decked up in heavy jewelry and heavier lehanga, and Hrithik Roshan in authoritative attire. Yes, these looks are somewhat close to what the king and queen of a Mughal themed wedding wear, though with several modern tweaks. Similarly the wedding which are based on state themes as Rajasthani, the wedding outfits are decided on the basis of that state’s culture and royalties.
Likewise, for western themes the couple prefers to wear an elegant gown and a sophisticated tuxedo. The overall outlooks designed keeping the modern inclinations and taste of the couple. Western theme weddings remind me of one more thing: bridesmaids. The hottest drift is chiffon bridesmaid dresses, which does not only give a perfect fit but also an angelic air to the wedding. With e-commerce market places at its peak, it had become absolutely easy to buy bridesmaid dresses online. All of us know how imperative the role of bridesmaid is in western culture, gradually the same custom has started embracing Indian weddings though the rituals are slightly different than those of west world. It is one custom that also makes the close friends or cousins of bride to feel special on their best friend’s wedding. So far in western theme wedding I have not spotted Indian brides wearing short wedding dresses, yet it is quite a common wedding trend in some parts of the world.
Individually, irrespective of the theme I love the modern ways of organizing these weddings. A theme based wedding does not only cater to a unique wedding experience, but also gives an opportunity to feel the uniqueness, which I do not think happens more often.
