Hi Everyone,
After my post on 10 nail polishes for festive season, here is another bright nail polish which would have definitely made it to that list if I had found it earlier. Nevertheless, as I have got it now I can’t seem to get bored of it. Read on to know more about this shade, its staying power, finish, etc.
My Take on ‘Lakme True Wear Nail Color Freespirit D417 Manish Malhotra’
It comes in a typical Lakme packaging that is a rectangular glass bottle with beige cap. If you have used Lakme true wear nail polishes before you must know that their caps have the tendency to come out when the applicator is still screwed to the lid. Not a con though, as you can easily fix it back or also use the applicator without the outer cap.
Lakme D417 is a beautiful nail polish that belongs to red color family. I cannot actually have a single shade description because it varies with light. In broad day light it looks like a dark red shade with berry undertones, and in dim light it looks like a maroon shade with black tinge. Irrespective of the reflection, it makes your hands look beautiful. What more, it is the kind of shade that suits all skin tones. It is a perfect bridal shade, so if you are looking for some bridal nail polishes I would definitely recommend this one.
The texture is smooth and creamy. I find the consistency slightly thick but not much that cannot be worked with. It is a fine consistency when you have to make it work directly on the nails but if you are looking to do water marble nail art with this polish you may confront some resistance.
It provides good coverage – 1 coat itself gives 80% opaque coverage and 2 coats give you a solid maroon /berry color that is 100% opaque. I have broad nails so the brush is thinner for them. I have to brush it thrice to cover entire nail bed, and that sometimes gives a streaky finish. Also, being a bright nail polish it leaves red stains on the nails but that can be taken care of by applying a base coat. If not fully, at least it can reduce the paleness partially.
Speaking of finish, it is glossy and salon-like. You have to really pay attention while it is drying otherwise you may end with crisscross impressions on your nails. Yes, it is because the nail polish takes time in drying. And if you are going for more than 2 coats you will have to give it ample time to dry completely.
As far as staying power is concerned, if you have applied 2 coats of the polish it stays on for 3 days without any chipping. But for lesser coats, it may start falling apart earlier. The good thing is even when it starts chipping off the tips, the glossy finish stays intact. That being said, if you apply 2 coats with caution you can have salon-like nails for 3 days, and it may last even longer.

Pretty shade :)
I have used this nail pain in another shade. I liked it although it does take time to dry. It is pigmented and does not chip easily. Nice review:) :good:
Tempting shade but too dark for my preference. Looks great on you :)
