I know this sounds cliché but honestly a makeup primer has been on my wish-list for quite long. As this had to be my first primer so I wanted to ensure that I choose the best of them in regards to quality and ease of application. I have an oily skin tone, which needs to be balanced out for greasiness and subtle glow at the same time. After trying (testers) primers of different brands I finally settled on Make up Academy (MUA) Matte Perfect Complexion Balancing Primer. In terms of pricing there was not much difference between this one and other drugstore brand primers. The one thing that mainly drew me towards this primer was its oil control claim, which along with other experienced traits has been elaborated below.
My Take on ‘Make up Academy (MUA) Matte Perfect Complexion Balancing Primer’
I have bought MUA makeup primer from an online shopping store. At the time of placing the order, I did not pay much attention to the quantity or the size of the tube. But the moment I received the order I felt pretty disappointed as it was only a 15 ml tube, which looked a bit expensive as compared to other drugstore primers. To pacify myself I settled on one positive thing about this small packaging, and of course it is the ‘travel friendly’ thing. It can just pop in a handbag or vanity kit, not occupy any space and disappear; only to be seen when it is time to squeeze the tube :nailfile: .
Just on a serious note, all online goodies may not actually look the same as they do in those flashy pictures. So pay heed to the quantity and size before placing an order.
Now, as I have already spoken about the packaging plus point (:P) here comes the rest of it. This is a tinted fragrance free primer. Only a little quantity, about the size of a sunflower seed, is required to cover entire face. I dab it on my face, and using gentle strokes spread it outwards. It makes my skin as smooth as a marble, paving way for an easier foundation application (Check for this tips and tricks on how to apply a makeup primer here).
With MUA matte perfect complexion balancing primer as a base, my makeup stays intact for 7-8 hours without any hint of greasiness. I even use it as an eye makeup primer that helps in bringing out the eye shadow colors and keeping the eye makeup streak-free for all day long.
I wear this primer underneath foundation and sometimes just alone. It evens out skin tone but does not hide stubborn scars. To cover the scars I usually need to use a concealer. Even when I do not use foundation on top of this primer it does not feel heavy or awkward, instead gives a uniformed natural look. As I have already said that I have combination to oily skin so it usually breaks out on application of a new product. But thus far MUA makeup primer has not caused any break outs; my skin is calm and seems to like this product.
