Matrix Opti Care Smoothing Shampoo Review
Hi Everyone,
Hope you are having good time doing all the preparation and shopping for this festive season. I could not purchase a thing during the shraadh period. It is not that I believe in such things but sometimes have to abide by these superficial protocols. Anyhoo, my Today’s review-product is least impacted by the banned shopping period as I bought it many days before the shraadhs even started. I just brought up the topic as I could not purchase a 2nd anniversary gift for my husband because of this no-new-things ritual  . How sad for the girls (meeee) who’s anniversaries and birthdays fall in this timeframe! ;-)
My Take on ‘Matrix Opti Care Smoothing Shampoo’
Since long I have been dreaming to replace my regular hair shampoo by a professional product. Professional products do not only look fancy but they also claim to provide numerous benefits that a drugstore product cannot provide. Owing to this perception, I bought Matrix opti care smoothing shampoo. Technically, this shampoo is for chemically straightened hair, and as I have natural hair that never undergone any chemical treatment so I thought over and over and over if you should purchase it or not. I struggled with other hair professional brands’ but could not find a single product that matched with my hair needs. So determined I was to go for a professional hair shampoo that I half-heartedly bought Matrix opti care. Also, I have seen lots of people who are using this shampoo but have never got their hair straightened, so that served as a support to this half-hearted decision.
Matrix opti care smoothing shampoo comes in an orange(ish) bottle that has a flip open cap. The designing of the cap is done in such a way that it gives an impression of a press-button opening. On the first usage I had to struggle for a couple of seconds (seconds..) only to figure out how to open this bottle.
The shampoo is off-white in color with more than semi-thick consistency, and has a yummy guava fragrance. The texture is creamy and smooth. As compared to other shampoos I have used so far this is the most economical in terms of usage. Just a dollop of this shampoo lathers abundantly on wet hair. And it is also easy to rinse off, does not leave any slippery touch behind.
I have oily scalp so my hair used to weigh down on day 2 of shampooing, and I needed to shampoo them again on day 3. But with Matrix opti care smoothing shampoo I can easily give 2 days’ gap before shampooing my hair again. My hair no more looks oily or weighed down. Also, I do not always feel the need of conditioning my hair after shampooing. The shampoo itself has the ability to control frizz and make my hair look shiny. However, when I use this shampoo along with Matrix Opti Care Smoothing conditioner the results in terms of taming frizz and lustrous hair are better. I just want to say that in times of hurry I can use this shampoo without a conditioner, and still keep my hairs loose not worrying about fizziness.
Talking about long term benefit of using this shampoo, I have been using it for over 1.5 months now and I do not see any extraordinary improvement in hair health. In regard to refining hair texture I was expecting a little more from Matrix Opti Care. Nevertheless, it does most of the things it claims so I am not regretting my decision of adding this product to the stash.

BABE Rating: 4/5
Final Word: Matrix Opti Care Smoothing shampoo justifies most of the things it claims: controls frizz, adds shine and makes hair manageable. So far, I am happy with this purchase but parabens might be a turn off point in the long run. So next time I would prefer to go for a more natural shampoo that has fewer chemicals.
