The festive season preparations are already in full swing, and so is the shopping. When I was on one of these shopping rounds I got this urge to purchase a blue eye liner. Mainly because so many people are raving about blue liners in turquoise and navy shades, so I wanted to see how it would look on me. I have never tried color eye pencils before so I wanted to go for a very sober shade- to see if I would be to handle the charisma of colored eyes or not.

My Take on ‘Maybelline Eyestudio Vivid and Smooth Eye Liner in Ocean Blue’
I was looking for a colored eye liner pencil in blue, not the flashy blue as turquoise or aqua but a decent daily office wearable shade. After seeing a couple of testers of varied blue shades I settled on this ocean blue eye liner pencil. This is a soothing, settled and calm shade, the exact type that I can dare to wear in office. :whistle: While at work, I cannot carry those bold eye catching and attention seeking colors– neither in apparels nor in makeup, so this one is the perfect my-type-of-office-shade.

Maybelline Eyestudio Vivid and Smooth Eye Liner pencil comes in 12 beautiful shades. The bottom end of the pencil matches with the exact shade of actual eye liner so when you do not find any testers around you should not be worried about buying the wrong shade. The other end of the pencil protects the tip with a sturdy plastic cap. Since I am using this pencil I have carelessly thrown it in my handbags and travel kits, and never once found the cap loose.
It is not a roll on pencil so I need to sharpen it every time the tip gets flat. I have been using the roll on pencils so far so sharpening will take some time to get used to. But the good thing is that very less product is wasted while sharpening, without any mess around the blades.

I love the formula used in manufacturing of these Maybelline Eyestudio Vivid and Smooth Eye Liners. It is very creamy in texture that makes the pencil glide on to the eye lid smoothly. Ocean blue is a highly pigmented shade. In just one swipe I can prominently line my eyes, for an intense look I swipe it multiple times or sometimes inline it with a black eye liner. It does not sting eyes but still I take care while drawing the line, keeping it as close to the lash line as possible and not thrusting it inside the eyes.
This Maybelline liner has got brilliant staying power. It stays on intact all day (8-9 hours) long without smudging or fading. Another good thing is that it is easier to remove. In just one cotton swipe, laced with makeup remover, it is all gone without spreading around the eyes or leaving traces behind.

What I like about ‘Maybelline Eyestudio Vivid and Smooth Eye Liner in Ocean Blue’
– Glides on to the lids smoothly.
– Does not smudge.
– Good pigmentation.
– Staying power is very good.
– I like this ocean blue color- it is neither too flashy nor dull.
– The end of the liner pencil depicts exact color of the liner. So it becomes easier to select these liners even when no testers are available.
– Available in 12 shades.
– Does not sting eyes.
– Reasonable price in that quality.
– Easy to wipe off – does not create a mess all around the eyes.
What I do not like about ‘Maybelline Eyestudio Vivid and Smooth Eye Liner in Ocean Blue’
– It is not a roll on liner. I need to sharpen it each time its tip flattens. Sometimes when I am running out of time the sharpening thing becomes a pain otherwise I do not mind spending time on it.
– No manufacturing date mentioned on the pencil. I can see the use before date, which is 06/16 in this case, but the manufacturing date is nowhere to be found.

Final Word: Maybelline Eyestudio Vivid and Smooth Eye Liners are built with impressive formula. They glide on smoothly and provide good pigmentation. I very much like the wearable intensity of this ocean blue shade. If you looking for a sober blue liner with good staying power than this is the shade for you. I love wearing it as it is very easy to apply, and can be carried off with utmost ease.
