Meal Of The Day: Steamed vegetables with green tea
Hi Everyone,
If you are tired of eating fried spicy food or tasteless boiled food then this post contains the right recipe for you. This recipe will relish your taste buds and will not make you feel guilty after the consumption :-) Moreover, I feel that steamed food is much better than fried or boiled food. Steaming keeps the water soluble vitamins intact, and the calories and fat intake to a minimum. Let’s see the recipe and ingredients of this healthy yet tasty meal.
Ingredients
1) Carrot
2) Capsicum
3) Green beans
4) Cucumber
5) Sweet corns
6) Beet Root
7) Paneer
8) Salad dressing
9) Lemon Juice
10) Vinegar
11) Salt
12) Black pepper
You can also add in Broccoli and cauliflower to make the list healthier.
Method
Step 1– Thoroughly was all the vegetables and chop them in fine cubes.
Step 2- Put carrot, green beans, beet root and sweet corns in steamer basket 1, which is closer to the steamer generator. All the vegetables that take long time to steam have to be placed nearer the steam generator. Set the timer for 3-4 minutes to steam these vegetables, you can increase or decrease the timer according to the crispiness you want.
Step 3- Now, put capsicum and cucumber in steamer basket 2 and place it over basket 1. Set the timer to 2 minutes, this will steam all the vegetables in steamer basket 1 & steamer basket 2.
Step 4- As soon as the timer is up put all the vegetables in a bowl (to avoid extra steaming), garnishing with finely chopped paneer cubes.
Step 5- Add a spoon of lime juice and vinegar to the steamed vegetables. Sprinkle salt and black pepper according to taste.
The healthier portion of the meal is ready :dancydancy:
Step 6- To add some crunchiness toast a bread slice, and if you like slather it with low calorie butter.
Step 7– Prepare a cup of green tea to make the meal healthier. You can check out the recipe of green tea and its health benefits here. If you would want to treat your taste buds then add a spoon of honey and lime juice.
The main caution while steaming is that it has to be just perfect, the vegetables should neither be over steamed nor under steamed.
Benefits of Steaming vegetables
More Nutritious– Steaming vegetables keep the water soluble vitamins together, maintaining their nutritious value. The properties of Vitamin C, which boosts immunity and Vitamin B, which promotes healthy neurological function and glucose metabolism, may degrade when these vegetables are put to boiling.
Less calories and fat- Steaming vegetables do not need any oil for cooking so they contain fewer calories, thus lesser fat.
Contains more natural flavors- Steaming vegetables maintains their flavors, and makes the food more tasty.
Easier to digest– Steaming makes the vegetables soft, thus makes them easier to digest. As they are digested easily so they pass more nutrients to the body. In addition to this steamed vegetables do not cause bloating and other indigestion problems.
Overall, steamed vegetables are the healthiest choice as compared to raw, fried and boiled vegetables. You should try this meal at night or have it as a snack in the evening.
Happy cooking :-)
