Mehandi designs for Indian festival Karvachauth
Hi Everyone,
Hope you are doing great and enjoying every bit of this festive season. Starting from October till New Year eve all the festivals line up to brighten the mood and ambiance. The upcoming one in the list is Karvachauth- a festival celebrated by Hindu women. It is considered a romantic festival symbolizing the love between a husband and a wife :rose: Married women fast from sunrise to moon rise for the long life, safety and good health of their husbands.
Women start preparing for this festival a couple of days in advance by buying bangles, jewelry, cosmetic products, new dresses, henna, fruits, sweets, coconut and other puja related samagri. Beauty rituals, makeup and dressing-up are a significant part of this day :-) To make this significance perfect, the local markets take on a festive look; they display bangles, cosmetic products, and vermilion (sindoor) well in advance to attract the buyers.
Henna application, on the hands, is an important ritual of this festival. In older times women used to make henna designs on each other’s hands but these days women prefer to go to the henna artists to get their hands painted. Due to the large number of women customers it becomes quite a profitable day for henna artists; they increase their charges by 2- 3 folds to make the best out of the festival. But even that does not discourage the women in getting their hands painted; on the eve one day before the festival there are long queues of women waiting for their turn. Sometimes the waiting hours extend to 12 am or even 1:00 AM. Some of the girls, who are an expert in henna art, make design on other women’s hands, saving them from long hour waiting and the fatigue that comes afterwards. For those women, here I bring a couple of beautiful henna designs that are easier to replicate and take lesser time.
I wish you look as beautiful as you looked on your wedding day and you enjoy every single moment of the festival.
Happy Fasting, May all your wishes come true!
Stay Happy Stay Healthy!
This design is a bit common but it looks very beautiful, and it is easier to paint on hands.
