Hi Everyone,
Today’s article is about Miss Universe 2013, the beauty pageant that was held in Moscow, Russia. If you have missed watching this international beauty pageant then here are some of the glimpses of the finale. Let’s take a look back at the inception of the Miss Universe competition.
Miss Universe competition has its roots in Long beach, California. In 1952, Long Beach witnessed a local “bathing beauty” competition, which has now transformed into an international Miss Universe competition, organized by some local company. These days numerous young women, who are above 18 years of age, participate in this contest to get crowned with the most coveted title. The competition is run by Miss Universe organization headquartered in New York. Almost all countries of the globe participate in this beauty pageant every year but there are only four countries: Canada, France, Germany, and the United States that have been present at every Miss Universe pageant since its inception in 1952.
Other than beauty, Miss Universe contestants are judged on qualities such as intelligence, mannerism and culture. Aside from the main Miss Universe winner and runners-up, other titles are also given to the deserving contestants. These titles are best National Costume, Miss Photogenic and Miss Congeniality.
