Organic Ubtan Scrubbing and Massage at Four Fountains SPA, South Delhi
After a long time I had this amazing experience of UBTAN massage. For those who do not know what an ubtan is here is a brief introduction:
Ubtan is primarily used during pre-wedding rituals of haldi ceremony. All the close relatives of bride and groom to-be participate in this ritual to apply ubtan on their faces and bodies. It is made up of all the organic ingredients that include besan flour, turmeric, milk (or curd) and oil. In Ayurveda, ubtan is considered one of the significant steps towards attaining ideal beauty. Ubtan is also largely preferred for pre-bridal sessions as the ingredients present in it remove blemishes and acne, makes the skin soft and supple, and improve complexion. Plus, when you D-day is close it is not advisable to experiment with chemical laden products, and the organic ingredient list makes ubtan safe to use.
So, now as you know about Ubtan it would be easier for me to brief you about the most pampering ubtan experience I had so far. This Wednesday I went to Four Fountains Spa to indulge in some coddling tryst with my mind and body. Are you wondering how come I went there on a weekday? For the avid readers of my blog- I work with an Information Technology MNC, which keeps me on toes on weekdays so I only get weekends for myself. But this Wednesday was different as it was my loving husband’s birthday. Both of us took a day off to celebrate this day together. Amongst lots of other interesting things that we did this day, our experience at the four fountains spa, Delhi is worth mentioning.
We went to their South Ex branch, however 1 hour late than our scheduled appointment. All thanks to ‘Delhi metro’ guys for disordering traffic and making us late. The good thing is that they are getting metro to south ex so now this prime location would become more accessible but the bad thing is that till entire metro work is over all the travellers en-route will have to combat traffic hustles.
Now coming back to my experience, even though we were already embarrassed for making a celebrity entry (being late  ) the four fountains spa consultant was very nice to us. Before suggesting a therapy she enquired all about our daily lifestyle, stress level and problem areas. For me, she suggested the organic ubtan scrubassage and for the birthday boy a de-stressing head, shoulder and neck massage.
After the therapies were decided we were introduced to our individual therapists, who then took us to a couple-room with two beds separated by a curtain. I was asked to change into disposable clothes and place my belongings including watch, earrings, rings, etc in a locker in my room. Directing all these instructions, the therapist left the room only to come back after I ring the bell. The couple room was slight congested with very less space to walk around, but the ambience was quite peaceful and relaxing- the kinds of where you can have a conversation with your inner-self. I liked the soothing music playing in the background and the scent of fresh flowers that were placed in the room. Well, after I changed to those oversized clothes I was feeling awkward but then I observed the dim light in the room. It was so dim so that nothing would get noticed. When I was ready for the therapy I rang the bell, and after 2-3 minutes the therapist arrived with a try full of therapy products. She asked me to lie on the bed and covered my body with a disposable sheet.
I loved this quote, could not resist myself from capturing it:
Organic Ubtan scrubassage (scrub + massage) is a 60 minute therapy from neck to toe that involves 30 minutes scrubbing and 30 minutes massage. Before starting with the therapy she cleansed my feet with an organic cleanser. Then she started off with scrubbing my back, and gently massaging with light hands. I must say that she was a very well trained therapist, who knew where to raise the pressure and where to keep it low. Slowly and steadily she scrubbed and massaged my whole body from neck to toe, obviously excluding private parts. ;-) While she was doing my feet I specifically asked her to focus on ankle joints that occasionally become painful as I wear heels most of the time. Those 60 minutes were pure bliss and out-of-this world. With each pressed pressure point my body and mind felt more light and relaxed. I sensed my mind was surrendering to the surreal pleasure which otherwise is difficult to attain in our day-to-day stressful life.
Kudos to the therapist for her expertise and for giving me such a wonderful feeling!
After she was done with scrubassage, she asked me to take the shower and change back to my clothes. The attached washroom was somewhat congested but manageable. It was equipped with body wash and shampoo dispensers, and a body lotion to be used if required. I quickly took the shower and got ready to click some photographs.
The birthday boy also seemed very impressed with his therapist as he kept mentioning him on our way ahead to next destination.
It was a pleasing experience overall, and I believe we should keep pampering ourselves with such indulgences once a while ;-) . Also, do not forget to carry a face cream and some basic makeup stuff in your handbag whenever you go for a spa.
P.S: My therapy was offered free of chargeby the spa but my husband’s therapy was paid by us. Irrespective of the payee, my opinion expressed here is honest and trustworthy.
