Shimmering steel is one of the 6 shades of color impact range. The shade resembles the color of cement, yes the same cement which is used for construction of houses and buildings. If compared to steel it is one or two tones darker than that but definitely the shimmering effect is of steel only. As for me, I just love this shade as it can be paired up with a lot other color variants to experiment different stunning eye looks. This is an all-time wearable shade: for day, night, indoors and outdoors. The shimmer is not that visible under dim light and indoors, but it shows up in full glistening form under broad daylight and flash. The first time I wore this shade was when I had to visit my girlies for a day out. While I was decking up my eyes I kept on slathering one layer above other to create a dramatic look. Once I was satisfied with the look I headed for the destination, but before that I wanted to give one last self-appreciative nod to my expertise. The minute I saw my eyes in the side mirror I could literally see stars twinkling on my eye lids. That was the moment I fell in love with shimmering steel’s glistening effect. You may not see the shimmer under dim light but when the light focus comes on you, you will be the only radiating personality under that spotlight.

As far as the texture is concerned, it has a cream base which glides on to the lids super smoothly but afterwards transforms to a powdery texture for more pigmentation and color pay off. It would be an ideal shade for pigmented lids, as it covers up all the irregularities giving an even satin finish. Being a cream based shadow it does not lead to any fall out, so be carefree to create your favorite look without worrying about spoiling the under eye area. Another good thing about color impact cream eye shadows is that they can be easily applied using fingers. For even look, all you need to ensure is that you apply this shadow above an eye primer. Not doing so will give an uneven application.

As they say that nobody is perfect, so the same goes with shimmering steel color impact eye shadow. I like everything about it except its lasting power. It gets creased after few hours of application so demands touch up. Even though I applied it on primer laden eyes it could not last for more than 4 hours. Other than that so far I have observed all good pointers for this stunning ‘shimmering steel’ shade.

– It gives a clean application without any fall outs.
– I love the shimmering effect that becomes even more prominent under flash/ sunlight.
– A nice shade for both day and night time.
– It goes on creamy but settles as powdery shadow to give higher pigmentation.

What I do not like about ‘Oriflame The One Color Impact Cream Eye Shadow Shimmering Steel’

– It gets creased after 4-5 hours of application.
– Might be expensive for some.

Even though it gets creased after few hours I do not mind giving it a touchup only for its shimmering effect.
