Hope you are having a good time enjoying this cold weather (minus pollution). I feel the temperature is still couple of degrees higher than what it was same time around last year. I love winter season, the more cold it gets the more I enjoy it. Also, being a makeup lover I get to wear bold colors which give me a break from my usual subtle looks. To extend the gamut of my bold makeup collection here is Sugar Cosmetics Matte As Hell Crayon Lipstick Poison Ivy. These lipstick crayons are launched in four shades, I have already reviewed Holly Golightly so let’s see what I have to say about Poison Ivy today.
What the product says?
A classic shade that can instantly add a touch of mystery to your entire look, Poison Ivy is hot on the runway and a must-try shade for those who love to experiment.
How to use?
Exfoliate your lips & apply the Crayon Lipstick just the way you would with any other lipstick. Blot & reapply.
My Take on ‘Sugar Cosmetics Matte As Hell Crayon Lipstick Poison Ivy’
It comes in a sleek cardboard box packaging that has all the necessary details from shade name to ingredient list mentioned on it. Inside it contains a black chubby stick that has a color coded bottom and a rough-surfaced cap. If you keep your products in the packaging they come in you have to be careful while taking out this lipstick as it gets stuck in the cardboard box and that if not dealt with care cause wear & tear. It comes with a sharpener so you do not need to buy a new one to keep it pointed.
Poison Ivy is a wine shade with black undertone. It can instantly add freshness and boldness to an otherwise regular look. Usually, I wear subtle lip shades that can easily be worn to office but being on a bolder side, this shade gives a 360 degree revamp to my otherwise normal look. It is the kind of shade that would look good on all complexions, and is perfect for parties especially cocktail-parties.
Talking about pigmentation, it is purely enriched with color. In just one swipe it gives an almost opaque look, and 2 swipes are enough for 100% opacity. That being said, if you have pigmented lips you would surely like to own this shade. Even when it fades, it leaves a subtle tinge of color behind that though does not look like a true lipstick color but sufficient enough to make the lips look colored.
It has smooth creamy texture that feels very buttery and easy to work with. If applied without a lip liner it also causes the lipstick to bleed so I always top it on lined-up lips. In addition to keeping the lipstick intact, lip-liner also increases it longevity to about 5-6 hours. Plus, the creamy formula keeps the lips hydrated. I do not apply any lip balm underneath this lipstick, and still my lips feel moisturized and at-ease all day long.
Though it claims to be a matte lipstick, but I do not find it 100% matte. I would say it has 80% matte look, which is enough for me as it also keeps my lips comfortable. The pure matte lipsticks I have tried so far are drying and I always have to apply lip balms underneath them. So if you sail in the same boat, you may like the finish and easy-of-wear.
