Hi Sweeties,
I have been looking for a good night moisturizer for my oily and acne prone skin. If you are wondering what do I mean by a ‘good night moisturizer’ then here it goes – a good moisturizer should moisturize the skin, prevent acne, vanish scars, improve skin tone, give a lighter complexion and obviously provide healthy glow. So little to expect from a single night moisturizer. :P Well obviously, I was not going to get all these properties in just a single bottle so I thought to sacrifice a bit and adjust with only some of the benefits. I reached The Body Shop store and asked the sales assistant to show me a good night moisturizer for combination skin. TBS just has two ranges for combination skin type: Tea tree range and Seaweed range. As I was already using ‘The Body Shop tea tree skin clearing lotion’ as a day moisturizer so I wanted to go for the same range’s night serum; I thought it would work better. The con with tea tree night serum is that it works as a treatment product mainly on blemishes. Looking at my long list I instantly struck out this product. The next on the range was seaweed- an overnight moisturizer that controls excessive oil, provides healthy glow and works on the skin tone. Finally, that was the product I settled for. ;-)
My take on ‘The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment’
In terms of quality and texture, the body shop seaweed night serum exactly provides what a combination skin person would want from a moisturizer. It is a water based moisturizer that comes in a cute little pumping bottle. Just pump out a small quantity of the night serum, less than the size of a pea, and dab on face and neck using index finger. Slightly spread the serum in upward direction; in no time this will spread on the entire area. Leave it as is; do not try to get it absorbed in the skin as after some time it will automatically seep in. This night serum is fragrance free and non-sticky. It gives the skin a matte effect which is essential for summer and rainy seasons. When I started using this product I did not notice any immediate results other than no break-outs, which obviously made me feel bad considering its high price. But after a two week period (to add to the positives of this product) my skin started experiencing a matte effect – releasing lesser oil during the day.
Overall, this night serum does not gratify my really long list but if somebody is looking for an ‘excess oil control’ product then this is just apt.
