Hands often get dry in cold season. If not cared properly, the skin can even become flaky and start coming off. My hands are dry in summers as well so in winters if I do not apply thick moisturisers they look lifeless. I take special measures to keep the hands moisturized- applying milk cream and clarified butter are some of the basic activities I stick to in winter season. In addition, I use heavy moisturizers/hand creams to help soften the skin. Today, I am sharing my experience with The Body Shop Shea Hand Cream that I bought during my Canada trip. Keep reading to know my experience with this product.
What the product says
Perfect for on-the-go hydration, don’t leave home without this hand cream. Infused with the scent of shea, the light, gel-cream formula absorbs quickly, helping to soften and protect the hands.
My take on ‘The Body Shop Shea Hand Cream’
It comes in a metallic tube that is soft to touch and easily squeezable even in cold season. I have used The Body Shop Hemp Protector Hand Cream before and did not like its packaging at all. It was made of hard metal and the corners used to hurt every time I had to squeeze out the cream. It even tore from the center and made the usage even more difficult. Thankfully, the metal packaging has improved a lot. This time I am not facing any problem in using this hand cream. Moreover, it has a screw open cap that keeps the contents sealed and since the quantity is less than 100ml it can be easily carried for an air travel.
So if you ask what makes me choose this cream the answer is really simple- intense moisturizer. The intensity of natural vitamins and fatty acids in Shea butter makes it incredibly nourishing and moisturizing for the skin. Because of the strong moisturizing property, it is also used in the treatment of many skin ailments, including wrinkles, eczema, itching, etc.
The Body Shop Shea Hand Cream has a soft creamy texture with semi-thick consistency. I am in love with its perfume-like fragrance. Every time I go out with this cream on my hands, I am often asked about the perfume I have used. And, the good part is this amazing fragrance stays on for 3-4 hours. But if you wash your hands it is obvious to go away and so does the moisturizing effect.
I apply this cream every time after I wash the hands, and the mandatory application is at bedtime. Unlike other creams, it penetrates into the skin in no time and leaves the hands non-yet fully moisturized. I can see the before & after difference as the hands look plump and healthy after the application. With all the dryness gone they feel soft to touch and quite hydrated. But the not-so-good part is the lasting effect. I have been using this cream for over 4 weeks now and I do not feel any permanent repaired effect on my hands. I mean, the hands look hydrated after the application and the effect is not carried over to next day. If I do not apply the cream next day my skin returns to the dry state.
I like to elaborate on the non-greasy part since it is very much a requirement for those who hit the keyboard often. Earlier, I used to leave the keys sticky and oily but since the arrival of this hand cream, my hands can stay moisturized without transferring those shabby imprints to the keyboard.

Final Word- Formulated with strong moisturizing agents such as Shea butter, almond oil, and soybean oil, The Body Shop Shea Hand Cream is a decent option for quick moisture. Being non-sticky and light it feels great while touching a surface that can easily attract oil stains. The long-lasting perfume fragrance is a cherry on the cake as it keeps the hands scented for a good long time.
