VLCC lovable lip balms come in variety of shades such as strawberry, mango, mint, etc. Packed in white color roll on sticks, these cuties are very tempting and hard to resist. Owing to that temptation I bought not one but three of them- one each for me, mom and my sister. You know how we girls act when we see something cute and within the budget :dancydancy: . Irrespective of the feedback, we just keep adding these goodies to our stock. After a lot of blabbering lets come straight to the review of VLCC Lovable Lips Strawberry Lip Balm.
My Take on ‘VLCC Lovable Lips Strawberry Lip Balm’
As I have said earlier VLCC lovable lip balms come in white plastic packaging. The bullet that is housed inside this packaging is based on roll-on technique, and shielded by a transparent cap that let you see the color of bullet from top. Honestly, I am not that impressed with the quality of plastic used to manufacture these lip balms. It looks so fragile as not to survive any accidental fall or high pressure. That is the reason whenever I am travelling I never put this lip balm among my heavy weighted skin care products’ bag, instead I place it safely inside the zip pocket of my handbag.
The bullet is maroon in color. Yes even I was little appalled when I saw this shade. I was expecting the soothing color of strawberries but this is what I got. To my relief it does not appear maroon on lips but some light orange (ish) shade of red. The bullet is quite hard just like a crayon. Wait, I guess, crayons are still softer than this bullet ;-). I really have to rub it a couple of times on my lips to get that light red shade. Also, owing to the length and hardness of the bullet I believe I won’t ever be able to finish it off  .
I like the non-sticky texture and matte look of this balm. The look and feel of VLCC lovable lip balm is similar to that of a light shade daily wearable lipstick. It has mild strawberry fragrance but no taste; fragrance is yummy but so mild as not been able to even trigger my senses. So I think on that front this lip balm would not pose any problem to people with sensitive noses.
Regarding the efficacy, as I have said this lip balm is similar to a lipstick so you should not expect more than slight hydration and hint of red color on your lips. In fact when my lips are calling for scrubbing, this balm accentuates the problem by accumulating dry/dead skin on the surface. So I prefer to not to use it over my non-scrubbed lips.
The SPF 15 content is one good thing that I like about VLCC lovable strawberry lip balm. Now, I might be able to save my lips from uncalled for tanning and pigmentation. For the moisturising part, I still need to slather on desi ghee before going to bed.
What I like about ‘VLCC Lovable Lips Strawberry Lip Balm’
– It has a non-sticky texture.
– Nice daily wearable shade.
– Negligible transfer to cups.
– It has mild starwberry fragrance.
– It contains SPF 15 that will save the lips from pigmentation and tanning.
– It has affordable price.
What I do not like about ‘VLCC Lovable Lips Strawberry Lip Balm’
– Cheap packaging.
– It dries out lips, does not provide long lasting moisture.
– The bullet is very hard, even for the lightest red shade I need to rub it on a couple of times.
– It accentuates dryness and fine lines on lips.
– Complete ingredient list is not mentioned on the stick.
Price of ‘VLCC Lovable Lips Strawberry Lip Balm’: INR 99 for 4.5g
BABE Rating: 2.5/5
Final Word: I like the look and feel of VLCC Lovable Lips Strawberry Lip Balm. It does look good on lips but that’s it. The hydration and moisturizing effect is close to negligible so I won’t recommend it for winter season. But being formulated with SPF 15 I think it might be an average choice for summer season as we do not need to combat that much dryness as we have to in winter season. Plus, I really wish they should have chosen some hard plastic to improve the packaging quality.
